June 9, 2005 at 2:20PM I Hate Having My Time Wasted
I have just discovered that I’m after wasting several days of my life attempting to massage a bunch of unmassagable data to fit into a site, writing convoluted nasty code to force data from one awful database schema into another equally awful and subtly--it turns out--incompatible one.
Code maintainence sucks. I am having a very bad day.
June 22, 2005 at 2:50PM Google Maps has World Satellite Imagery
Google put up satellite imagery today, some of it detailed (though not quite to the levels I’d like). The detailed stuff is still a little patchy. For instance, in Dublin they’ve only covered the north side of the city, Galway isn’t covered (except by cloud), Limerick is just a technicolour blob, and so is Belfast. Cork is completely covered though. I thought I’d post up some vanity links.
- Digital Crew headquarters right in the city centre.
- My flat right at at the end of Rutland Street.
- Cork Institute of Technology, where I got my degree. It’s centred on the IT building.
- Aclare! Albeit without detail.

MapQuest, even though it doesn’t have satellite imagery and completely misspells the names of places (it’s Tourlestrane and Kilmactigue, you fools!) actually manages to show it.
[Aside: the misspellings are down to Sligo County Council, who decided to change the spelling to something more “phonetic”. Tools. Still no excuse though.]
