Blackout Ireland

July 24, 2006 at 11:36PM Limerick still whining about their census numbers

As everybody heard, according to the recent census, the populations of the cities of Cork and Limerick dropped marginally.

Limerick is blaming it on the mass exodus caused by the big Munster rugby match.

Tosh. Anybody who uses that as an excuse is an idiot. Let me spell this out to anybody making this excuse:

The census form could have been filled in any day before census night. All that had to be done was that the form had to be filled out by anybody who would have been normally in the house on that night. You could have been anywhere in the world, but if you would normally have been in Raheen or Caherdavin but just happened to be elsewhere that night, you should have filled out the form beforehand.

So suck it up Limerick, and accept that the seemingly erroneous census results are your own collective faults. Cork isn’t complaining because Cork people have a dose more sense than those from Limerick.

Corkonians aren’t complaining because they don’t actually have any real rugby fans and Limerick is Munster ;->

Besides, I predicted all this in April -

No, it’s not your fault. It’s my fault for not providing instructions. Underscores are used to indicate emphasis. You can escape any special characters by preceeding them with a backslash, so to get _, you type \.

And having live in Cork for quite a while, I know a lot of Corkonians who’d disagree with you. [smile]
