AboutMe
Hi! My name’s KeithGaughan, and I’m a developer with Perseus Development Corporation
. Previously, I worked for an Irish software company by the name of Digital Crew
, which is owned and ran by Peter Coppinger
, a friend of mine from college, and Cormac McCarthy. Before that, I was a Computer Applications (CR 106
, though the course name has changed to “Software Development”) student in Cork Institute of Technology
. Here
’s a rather dishevelled photo of me, which should do until I’ve something better, if you’re interested. As you can guess from the camera shake, I gave up my dreams of being a brain surgeon a long time ago. ![]()
I don’t give my email address out to just anybody, but if you want to contact me, you can use my contact form
, or if it concerns something in a weblog entry, you can use the comments facility. The wiki has a GuestBook page if you want to leave a comment on it.
Personality
I’d describe myself as an introvert. That has the rather awkward effect of making me appear distant and aloof when that’s far from the truth. If you’re not an introvert (if you’re one, you’ll know; if not, you won’t) and you’re meeting me or a fellow introvert, reading the article CaringForYourIntrovert might give you an idea of how we think and how to react to us. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you can turn me into an introvert: you can’t, it’s hardwired into my makeup, and wouldn’t life be boring if we were all the same.
I’m also quite quiet and shy in person, almost a social phobic, and it’s difficult and exhausting for me to meet new people or deal with crowds. I tend to avoid such situations because I find them highly stressful.
Strong emotion is hard for me to deal with too. Though I see nothing wrong with it, public displays of it make me feel uncomfortable. This has all but ruined what bit of a love life I’ve cultivated (poorly) over the years. There’s one girl in particular, a real sweetheart, who I might be going out with today had my fight-or-flight reflexes not kicked in at an completely the wrong moment. All my fault, and something I’ll chastise myself about for the forseeable future.....
