The Hitler vs. Coulter Quiz
I got 11 correct and 3 wrong. Not bad! I was going to post this up on TCAL, but I can never get up the courage to use my account.

Blurb:
Snakelets is a very simple-to-use Python web application server. It provides a threaded web server (you don’t have to provide a web server such as Apache yourself), Ypages (Python HTML template language, similar to Java’s JSPs) and Snakelets: code-centric page request handlers (similar to Java’s Servlets). Snakelet’s focus is to make the creation of dynamic web sites as quick and easy as possible. To get started it is enough to extract Snakelets somewhere, add a single directory that will contain your files, copy-paste-edit a small configuration file that describes your site, and you’re set to add your own pages and images and other content!
Damned laptop! See what pain you’re putting me through!
Desktop Post-It notes.
Just in case…
The first 10 Prolog Programming Contests took place in Ithaca (1994), Portland (1995), Bonn (1996), Leuven (1997), Manchester (1998), Las Cruces (1999), Paphos (2001), Copenhagen (2002), Mumbay (2003) and Saint-Malo (2004). The contest organisers have written this book, containing the (slightly reworked) questions and an answer (in Prolog of course) for each question… The book is now also freely downloadable.
The DejaVu fonts are a font family based on the Bitstream Vera Fonts release 1.10. Its purpose is to provide a wider range of characters while maintaining the original look and feel through the process of collaborative development.
It appears to me that this really ought to be part of the Bitstream Vera project or considered a sandbox for expanding the font, but…
Yay! Much better than RTÉ’s jumpy Real Player streams.
Awful name, but it looks like some pretty damned good CD and DVD burning software. It can’t deal with dual-layer DVDs (yet) but they’re pretty rare anyway so I’m not too bothered.
Hah!
I don’t even know why I need to have them installed, but…
An excellent replacement for the now seemingly defunct Nizkor site.
Drool! I’d love two of these!
Apparently much the same procedure will work with just about any USB device that works like a harddrive. Pity it’s not more fire-and-forget.
Pretty sweet! Come as both .ico and .png files, so it’s usable even on OSs other than Windows.
I already knew about acts_as_nested_set, but only because I’d noticed it when poking around the Rails source code.
A comprehensive guide to the theory and practice of monadic programming in Haskell.
Despite my best efforts, I haven’t been able to open my laptop without forcing the screws, which I don’t want to do. I’ll have to find another way.
Sense:
It is vilified as a propaganda machine and Osama bin Laden’s mouthpiece. In truth, though, Al Jazeera is as hated in the palaces of Riyadh as it is in the White House. But, as millions of loyal viewers already know, Al Jazeera promotes a level of free speech and dissent rarely seen in the Arab world.
Ho. Lee. Crap! We haven’t seen population growth like that since the early 1800s. I’m surprised that Limerick City and Cork City have seen population dips though, especially Cork.
Console is a Win console window enhancement. It was inspired by eConsole. Console features include configurable font, color, size, background image and transparency (on Win2000 and later).
I’m not using Windows right now, but this might be useful in the future, and somebody out there might find it useful now.
Not only good if you’re looking to squeeze a few MB out of your VMWare or Virtual PC images, but also great if you’re looking to squeeze some of the crap out of your own WinXP machine. Read it!
Perspective.
I thought I bookmarked this before…
On why strong-arm tactics can end up doing more harm than good.
Take that, Waghorne! :-)
I’ll be moving a blog–not mine–to Movable Type, so I might have to hack together some export code.
Once I get my laptop working again–if it does ever work again–and I decide to go back to Windows, I am definitely using this to squeeze out some of the crap.
Excellent! We as a country needed to do something to challenge McDowell’s contant pushing back of our rights:
Digital Rights Ireland has written to the Minister for Justice and Law Reform, Michael McDowell TD, and to the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Noel Dempsey TD and to the Garda Commissioner. We have looked for undertakings from them to cease breaching the Constitutional, statutory and European rights of the citizens of Ireland. Failing a positive response, we have instructed our solicitors, McGarr Solicitors, to prepare legal action.
A bit scattershot, but interesting nontheless.
To Read.
It’s a mightly ugly site, but some of the AltHists are really good.
